King Charles has recognised the commitment of more than two dozen Scots working and volunteering across health, social care and life sciences in his New Year Honours List.

The recently retired Chief Executive of the Scottish Ambulance Service (SAS), Pauline Howie, has been awarded a CBE for services to emergency healthcare following 23 years of service.

She is joined by Alistair MacDonald, SAS project lead, who has been awarded the King’s Ambulance Service Medal.

OBEs have been awarded to NHS Lanarkshire consultant psychiatrist, Professor Bienvenido Arturo Langa Ferreira and Director of the Academic Urology Unit at the University of Aberdeen, Professor James Michael Olu N’Dow DL.

Meanwhile, the former Chief Executive of Public Health Scotland, Angela Leitch, has been recognised for her services to public health in Scotland.
